Bull`s Head, High Street

11th September 2017 Leave a Comment

This Bull`s Head stood near the top of the High Street at the junction with Factory Street (later Geneva Road). It was to here that the bodies from the Cotton Factory fire were brought for public viewing in 1874. The house was tied to Greenall`s Brewery and the licencee in 1891 was Theophilus Mellor. Described as having “2 beds for travellers, but no accommodation for supplying refreshments other than drink”.
