William Lowndes was born in Smallwood, to the south of Congleton, in 1759.   His life spanned the second half of the eighteenth century and he had a habit of getting married -whilst married!  He also had a habit of intercepting the Royal Mail, especially along the roads of his home county.   No wonder he kept using different names!  It could only lead to one outcome …..

Our very own David Shaw will relate the tale of Highwayman William in his own unique and spell binding style, the amazing story of an adventurous Cheshire Highwayman.
